| Members of the Reese & Community Volunteer Fire Company responded on the initial alarm for a reported structure fire in Box 13-16, Gamber & Community Volunteer Fire Company's first-due area.
Chief 9-1 (Barnes) arrived and was paired with Gamber Lieutenant 13-3 (Reardon). Together, they stretched a hoseline through the front of the structure and began an aggressive interior fire attack. At the same time, the crew from Westminster's Engine 32 initiated a transitional fire attack from the rear of the structure.
Working alongside them, Sykesville's Engine 124 crew and Chief 12-3 (Larkins), along with additional personnel operating on the fireground, worked together to bring the well-advanced fire under control.
Engine 92's crew deployed ground ladders around the structure to provide additional means of escape should they be needed by residents or firefighters. The crew then joined interior operations, assisting with fire suppression on the first floor.
Rescue Squad 9 arrived and established a Rapid Intervention Team alongside Winfield's Engine 142, standing ready to respond immediately should a firefighter become injured, trapped or otherwise need assistance during fireground operations.
Reese members remained on the scene assisting for approximately three hours before returning to service.
Incidents like this are a reminder of just how much teamwork goes into protecting our communities. We are grateful for the opportunity to work alongside so many dedicated emergency personnel from throughout our area ā both career and volunteer. Different departments, different apparatus and different assignments all came together with one goal: protecting lives and property and supporting one another on the fireground.
