The Reese & Community Volunteer Fire Company regretfully shares the news of the passing of Life Member Gary F. Wedeking.
Gary Frank Wedeking, born on May 30, 1946, in Gettysburg, PA, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2024, in Westminster, Maryland. He was 78 years old.
Gary served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era and had a successful career as a Kitchen and Bath Designer. His favorite pastime was playing golf, and he enjoyed making memories with his family, supporting his grandchildren’s sports and hobbies, woodworking, and volunteering. Gary and his wife Gloria joined Reese VFC in 1999. They quickly became staples in our department volunteering their time and talents during our weekly Bingo's and other fundraising events over the years.
Of note, for over 20 years, Gary could be found running the Ice Cream/Snowball Stand alongside Gloria, and three generations of his family during our Annual Carnival.
A memorial service with military honors will be held on June 30th at 2:00 p.m. at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel in Westminster. If you’d like to make a memorial contribution, consider donating to the Maryland Horse Rescue, Carroll Hospital Center, or Reese and Community Volunteer Fire Company.
Please keep the Wedeking/Kilgore Family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time and stop by to see them as they honor him and their family tradition of running the Ice Cream Stand during Reese Carnival next week.
