The winter of 1966 started out with a bang. In February a blizzard with heavy wind and snow caused the downing of numerous power lines causing the transportation grind to a halt and stranded some forty (40) people at the fire house. That year marked a milestone for the county as the county's first Central Alarm System was installed. Dispatchers were put on duty day and night to dispatch fire and EMS calls throughout the county.
In 1967 marked the first fire fatality in the company's territory as a young man lost his life in a house trailer fire in Finksburg. The members were also called out in less than 20 degree weather to help fight a big five alarm church fire in Lisbon Maryland. The company also experienced its first accident as the engine was struck by an oncoming vehicle on Thanksgiving Day while responding to a house fire in Smallwood, thankfully no firemen were injured.
On May 4, 1970, the members agreed to hold Bingo on Thursday nights. Bingo officially started on August 6, 1970 and has been very successful ever since.
In June of 1972, Hurricane Agnes struck the area. The company was directly involved with the rescue of 5 people at Martin Long's store and apartments in Carrollton. Never in the history had the company seen anything equal to the destruction caused by the floods of Hurricane Agnes. Just as Hurricane Agnes had left behind massive destruction, Eloise made her mark in Carroll County. Flood waters once again wreaked havoc on the area bridges, wiping them out on Bollinger, Patapsco and Carrollton Roads.
By 1979 the company was running over two hundred (200) calls per year. Interest in and the need for an ambulance was tested as the company began running an engine on heart cases in the company's first due area. In 1980 marked the first time that the company purchased and issued turn-out gear to members.
