Reese Assists with Water Rescue

Watch Reese Chief, Jerry Dayton's interview with WJZ Channel 13. Chief Dayton discusses the efforts to locate a man feared to have drowned while swimming in Liberty Reservoir. According to Maryland State Police, the men were jumping off rocks in a cove about a half-mile from Deer Park Road at the Carroll/Baltimore County line.

The Gamber Fire Company first responded to the scene around 6 p.m.. The initial call was received at 5:37 p.m., divers from the Gamber Fire Company were searching for the missing person in the Liberty Reservoir Sunday evening. Officials were stationed near a bridge on Deer Park Road in Finksburg.

A variety of law enforcement and rescue agencies, including the Maryland State Police, the Carroll County Sheriff's Office, local and regional fire companies and Baltimore County police, responded to the call. A Baltimore County rescue boat was called in for assistance as well as dogs from Mason-Dixon Rescue Dogs.

The Carroll County Advanced Technical Rescue Team was also on the scene. The team is made up of volunteers who specialize in rescue operations and support emergency service responders when necessary.

Unfortunately, Divers from the Maryland State Police and Baltimore County Police recovered the body of Justin D. Oliver, 20, of Catonsville, near the cove area where he was last seen, about 25 feet from the shore in an area about 25 to 30 feet deep, on Monday police said.
